Chivers to design the building. This sketch by artist George Blake includes tall obelisks on either side of the door and sphinxes flanking the broad stairway. Neither of these were included when the building was completed. When the Bank was closed in 1905, Chivers' plans for the intended building were adapted for use as the publishing plant for Lewis' newspaper venture, "The Woman's National Daily." | Source | Photograph of drawing, multiple vertical creases, very dirty, 8.46" by 6.38" | Subject | Chivers, Herbert Caleb, 1870- | Subject | University City (Mo.)--Pictorial Works | Subject | Blake, George | Subject | Woman's National Daily Building (University City, Mo.) | Subject | People's United States Bank (University City, Mo.) | Subject.Keyword | Buildings--Missouri--University City | Title | Sketch of proposed People's United States Bank Building |
